Deceiver: Mini CD

11/10/04  ||  Lord K Philipson

So, yet another package with a CD arrives in the mail, asking to be bashed/praised at this phenomenal site. I might as well get it on then…

First off, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that after laying my eyes on the logo, bandname, cover, bandmembers’ names and songtitles, I had a strong feeling this would suck more cock than Victoria Paris ever did in her glorious days. Lemme ask you, how do YOU think this sounds? What do you make out of the logo/bandname/cover/bandmembers’ names and songtitles? Could it possibly be brutal death metal? Is it nu-metal? Is it the lost cm’s of my aroused penis? No, no and quite possiblt yes.

Anyone with the slightest knowledge about music ingeneral, and thrash metal in particular, knows this is nothing but old-school, you guessed it, thrash metal. Like it was done in the 80’s you know. Take some parts Sodom, a bit of Kreator, some regular heavy metal a’la Iron Maiden with a spice of Motörhead and we are getting close to what these fuckers are doing. I think you just got yourself a pretty damn good picture of these guys’ sound.

Is it good? Lemme think about that… Is it bad? That one is easier. Oh yes. It’s bad. It’s so bad it’s actually turns out charming and decent. This just isn’t anything that I will ever play in my stereo again. Not becoz it’s terrible or anything, but this music bores my fucken ass off. Just look at me, I no longer have an ass. My ass is fucken gone! I’m muthafucken ass-less!!!

Let’s unleash the fooockin fyyyyooooryyy!

Tommy Tägtgrens’ production fits the music like my cock in Alice Deejays’ ass, it sounds pretty dated and adds to the 80’s atmosphere.

I can’t take this any other way than that this band is a drunken-joke thing. 4 pissdrunk guys ends up starting a band for the sole reason to pay the old thrash-scene a tribute.

They do it well, I’ll give them that, but it’s just so… useless.

After I did this interview I went to their website where they stated the following in their biography:

“DECEIVER was formed in Jan. 2004 by ex. Maze of Torment member Pete Flesh, ex. Xenofanes member Crille Lundin, Magnus Flink and Destormo. Their main goal was to form a band where the energy, attitude and dedication to their old heroes such as Motörhead, Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, Metallica, Venom etc. would stay in main focus. Still doing it in their own way and trying to keep the vibe as personal as possible. DECEIVER is for sure not a bad copy/rip-off band, this is the real stuff and that is something that you can hear from the first tone. The style can simply be described as Thrashing Heavy Metal.”

Atleast I nailed Motörhead as one of their influences. I rule.

5 used 80’s thrash-albums out of 10
